Lip Balm

It's been a while since I wanted to fix a proper lip balm. My main consideration was to have a stable, solid formula, which will not feel like a wax-cream placed in a tube, and yet would spread easily. Of course I wanted to include cocoa butter because is an amazing ingredient with powerful regenerative action, a necessity for the lips during cold months. I would also imagine the perfect lip balm with (traditional) olive oil, with its great moisturizing action. The results showed that everything has to be balanced. I figured out that the best way to do so was by including more materials with useful properties that they will give something extra to the final recipe. So my inspiration was to replace part of cocoa butter with shea butter with proved anti-ageing benefits, and more importantly, part of the olive oil with the very easily absorbed grape seed oil, with powerful anti-oxidative ability. And the results were better than expected! The properties of the two extra materials are very obvious, plus a very solid balm, properly made for a tube. Vitamin E reinforces the anti-oxidative action and the mandarin essential oil provides a very (very) discreet pleasant smell in the whole recipe.
